The Therapeutic Mud treatment reaps the benefits of the complex process of mechanical, thermal, and chemical influence on the human body.
Balneotherapy is a field of physiotherapy where the healing properties of natural resources are used, i.e. mineral waters, spa gases, peloids and climatic factors. Its origins are traced back to antiquity. This method of treatment was used by the precursor of modern medicine - Hippocrates. The name comes from the Latin word "balneum" which means bathhouse. It is recommended in therapy and in the prevention of chronic diseases and is intended to alleviate pain.

Therapeutic mud consists of mineral salts, bacteria, fungi, bitumen, pectin, cellulose, lignin, biologically active compounds, hormones, humic acids which cause hormonal changes in the body.
Radon waters are the main wealth of Świeradów Zdrój.
Although similar to therapeutic mud the Radon waters' main component is radon gas contained in mineral waters.
Special waters
Radon baths are carried out using radon-saturated water, which possesses therapeutic properties. It dilates blood vessels and improves blood supply to the internal organs. The baths increase the intensity of biological processes and stimulate the production of pituitary tropic hormones.
Radon-rich waters are the main asset of Świeradów-Zdrój.
Their scope of action and the effects of the treatment are similar to those of mud therapy. The results are due to the radon gas naturally present in the spring waters.
Baths in water with a concentration of radon are used for similar conditions to those treated with mud, with the difference that they also lower blood pressure.

There is a distinguished effect of peloid through heat, organic and inorganic components contained in it, and adsorption. Due to such a wide range of effects, the treatment is heavily burdening the body. In the case of peloid compresses, heat transfer into the body was observed, and thus the thermal effect not only affects the subcutaneous tissues, but also the deeper organs. By increasing the blood flow rate, better tissue oxygenation and nutrition is achieved. At the same time, waste products are removed faster.
