Czarny Młyn - Devil’s Mill

A Major attraction of Czerniawa is Czarci Młyn (Devil’s Mill). This extraordinary structure is the heritage of a characteristic construction of the Silesian and Czech borderland. It dates back to 1890 and is still equipped with an original plant. Everyone visiting this place may see how millers used to work on the turn of the 19th and 20th century.

No-one knows whether they had to sign a pact with the devil to get to know the secret of baking, but they say deuces and devils often visit the mill. To secure oneself against the evil powers, it is recommended to pet the lions which guard the entrance.

Visitors may tour the unique collection of the Devil’s Mill while eating a chunk of homemade bread baked in the mill according to the traditional recipe in an oven which is over 100 years old.
